The 7 e edition was red, here is the new Glénans course in its blue livery. This book is available in bookshops since October 12, 2017. We were lucky enough to be able to leaf through this"Bible" in preview.
Since 1961, date of the first edition, the Cours des Glénans has marked many generations of sailors. Indeed, this book includes all the fundamentals of sailing. Whether you are a young practitioner or an experienced sailor, you will find something to perfect your practice in the 1071 pages!
This new edition (the 7 e 2010 edition) is an evolution of the previous one. Written by 30 sailors, it is finely reviewed and verified: more than 2 years ½ of work for the whole team! This year, the illustrations and drawings have been updated, for more modernity and to integrate new navigation practices.
Thus in the 8 e edition takes into account navigation with electronic maps. Or a chapter on the marine environment is now integrated for a clean practice of navigation.
These new subjects are in addition to the old ones which make the Glénans course a must for purists. One will note for example the explanation of the watches and the role of the planks in the life on board which remains to the frankly very strict reading and of another time. But here, the Glenans Course plays its role perfectly as a learning document. It is up to you to then apply the rules you wish on board.
The strength of the Cours des Glénans and offer a complete view on navigation. Here you will learn how to take stock and manage your boat's settings, but you will also learn how the GPS system works and the medical problems that can occur at sea. It is this whole, this whole, which transforms the Course of the Glenans into a true Bible.
A response to sailors' expectations, proven by the 40,000 copies sold at the 7th edition. With its new visuals and update, the 8 e will she do better? We wish him well, because for us this Glénans course is the best book in an ideal on-board library.
