The nominees for the World Sailing Sailor of the Year award are...


Here are the nominees for the Rolex World Sailor of the Year (Sailor of the Year Trophy organised by the International Sailing Federation). This year again, there are 4 men and 4 women who distinguished themselves in one of the major sailing races or regattas. Among them, two Frenchmen and not the least, Armel le Cléac'h and Thomas Coville.

World Sailing, the international sailing federation, and Rolex have released their list of sailing influencers for the 2017 Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards. The candidates of this 2017 edition have distinguished themselves on one of the major sailing events this year such as the America's Cup, Vendée Globe, Windsurfing, offshore racing or Olympic racing... Various practices that allow to realize the extent of this sport.

Since its inception in 1994, the award has become one of the most prestigious and dynamic awards in sailing. Each year it highlights performance, endurance and achievement in the sailing community.

The results euros a male and female euro winner will be revealed on November 7, 2017 at the World Sailing Awards Ceremony in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Each winner will receive a marble and silver trophy representing the globe, crowned with five silver spinnakers representing the continents, and a Rolex watch. 2 French women have won the Trophy since its creation, Isabelle Autissier in 1995 and Claire Leroy in 2007.

In 2017, over 80 nominations were received by the organization between September 19, 2016 and August 31, 2017. Here are the four men and women in the running for the prestigious honor:
