The must-see attractions of the Grand Pavois from September 27 to October 2, 2017!

Grand Pavois La Rochelle, from September 27th to October 2nd

Le Grand Pavois will open its doors at Le Port des Minimes in La Rochelle from 27 September to 2 October 2017. There will be 750 boats on display, 300 of which will be afloat in an area of 100,000 m2, with in particular an area where you can slide your feet in the sand and numerous themed areas. Here are the different areas and the highlights not to be missed for a week.

Different thematic villages

The Grand Pavois exhibition presents several thematic areas so that each boater can find his interest. The majority of the boats are exposed in the water - many of them sailing boats - but some are also exposed ashore, especially motor boats. Finally, the entire world of yachting is presented at the show, through the various halls: equipment, insurance, financing, maritime heritage..

The beach, village slides and light sailing

Since the 2000s, the Beach has been hosting various water sports and leisure activities such as light sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding and stand-up paddle. Installed on the Minimes beach, this area hosts a large pool, a place for demonstrations and baptisms (about 1,500 each year), with your feet in the sand..

L'Espace Pêche & Grand Pavois Fishing

Created in 2008, this space has been growing ever since with more and more exhibitors and competitors from all over France. The Fishing Area has its demonstration basin, its marina, its fishing village, its sales area run by the Pro Pêche 17 store network, its gallery of fishing boats, its direct trays broadcast on the Internet, not forgetting the professional staff of the biggest fishing brands present for the occasion... The highlight of the show in terms of fishing will be the no kill lure fishing tournament bringing together pros and amateurs.

The Heritage & Tradition area

Every year, the Heritage & Tradition Area welcomes many boats from the heritage of New Aquitaine: classic yachts, adventure boats, work and service boats. This space will be an opportunity to continue discovering the renovation of the "Damien." gérard Janichon and Jérôme Poncet's adventure boat, whose restoration project was launched in 2012 at the Grand Pavois La Rochelle. Conferences on heritage will also be organised during the show.

A Multihull space for amateurs

Developed in 2015, the multihull area will be present again this year with a marina dedicated to racing and cruising catamarans and trimarans.

The Water Leisure Area

Following the takeover of the Lyon water show, and in the pursuit of its development, the Grand Pavois is developing a new 1,000 m2 space located near the Boutique area, called "Loisirs d'eau". It will showcase the world of swimming pools, spas, seaside tourism and well-being, etc..

New sailing and motor boats

Once again this year, new products - both sailing and motor - will be on show at the Grand Pavois 2017. Among the new models, which we will be detailing in a future article, some of them are attracting a lot of attention, such as the Figaro Bénéteau 3, which will have its world premiere, the Prestige 460, already presented in Cannes a few days ago, but for the first time on the Atlantic seaboard, or the Amel 50, which will be making its first presentation.

On the powerboat side, there will also be several new models to discover such as the Nexus 870 Revo (Maxus Yachts), the Bénéteau Barracuda 6 from Bénéteau, the VR4 from Bayliner or the Eagle 10 from Brig, or the Loxo 32, the first powerboat from the Pogo shipyard.

Strong events

This year, the Grand Pavois is focusing on travel and especially on big expeditions. There will be great adventurers (and lesser ones) who will present their plans for a cruise or a round-the-world tour.

We will see Philippe Poupon and Géraldine Danon, who will come to present their Middle East cruise (in reference to the Sultanate of Oman, guest of honour), Jean-Luc Van den Heede and Arsène Ledertheil, who will be present with their boats for their participation in the 2018 Golden Globe Race, or Sébastien Roubinet, who will set off in 2018 on board the "prototype sailboat/ice tank" he has built and will cross the icy Arctic Ocean.

Seasoned yachtsmen - a family of 6 people on two 6.20-metre sailing boats and a couple on a cruiser over 10 metres long - will also present their plans for cruising, from Europe to around the world..

The Sultanate of Oman, guest of honour

The Sultanate of Oman will be the Guest of Honour of the Grand Pavilion. This is the first time that a guest country from the Middle East will be present at the show. The opportunity to present to the public the Diam 24 and Class 40 of the Oman Sail racing team. Conferences and film screenings, presented by skippers from Oman Sail, Fahad Al Hasni and Sydney Gavinet will also be organised.
