Olbia goes into mass production. 14 years ago (already!) this shipyard had realized the fittings of Le Petit Monde, a 9 m sailing boat in thick aluminium (Strongal made at the Méta shipyard) whose first client was the politician José Bové.
Designed by Jean-Pierre Brouns, this sailboat required a little rejuvenation and above all had to be produced for less in order to reach its clientele. Thus was born the New World. This yacht retains the same length (9 m) and the same width (3.00 m) but with a more belly shaped hull that offers greater living space.
In order to reduce labour costs, all the structure of the deckhouse and cockpit are made of polyester. This makes it possible to offer beautiful rounded shapes with a large glass surface for a panoramic view from the inside.
The hull in Strongal still built at Méta is made to rub shoulders with adventure. Solid, it also supports the load (2 tons of material possible). It is equipped with 2 fairly vertical keels that ensure a strong righting torque for this boat capable of sailing in high latitudes in always mild weather, in addition to limiting the draft as much as possible.
Compared to Le Petit Monde, it is now Olbia who is in charge of marketing this boat. In fact, it is this shipyard that will be presenting the number 1 boat at the Grand Pavois in September 2017. If 4 examples are already under construction, it is planned to make a complete range with a model of 11 m currently under study.
If the hull and deckhouse are fixed, Olbia, specialist in the realization of boat interiors, can afford to meet specific customer requests. For the moment the boat is valued at 144 000 euros including tax in its already very complete basic version.
