How to avoid birds on a boat at anchor? Bird droppings (seagull, gull...) are a real problem in some anchorage areas. Birds use boats as perches and cover them with droppings that are always very difficult to clean.

An Austrian company has just launched a new product that we think is interesting. The Bird Boggle is a kind of electric weather vane that turns a whip to chase birds.

To avoid electrical connections and range problems, this engine is powered by a lithium battery which is itself recharged by a solar panel. Every 30 seconds, the system starts up and makes a number of turns that scare the birds away. Once the arm is extended, the device covers about 1.50 m on the boat.

The intelligence of the device limits the number of revolutions according to the battery charge. A sensor also determines the brightness so as not to consume the battery at night.
The installation is very simple with several methods of fixing either with a clamp on the balcony or on a base that is screwed onto the boat. The rigid part of the arm is telescopic (50 cm) to facilitate storage during navigation.

The device is available for 119 euros in a complete kit designed for boating.
