The beacon can be "hidden" on the boat or on the motor. It has its own power supply (a standard replaceable CR123A battery). This battery gives it an autonomy of 1 year. Once the beacon is operational, the user follows the movement of his boat. This will be useful in case of theft for example.
An update every 10 minutes
The beacon sends its position every 10 minutes. On a map (road or satellite view) you can follow its small red dot as you move. We imagine parents reassured to visualize their child's progress in a dinghy or paddle. This beacon can also be a good way to follow your boat when you have lent it to a relative or simply rented it.
Effective protection against theft
The application allows you to activate a virtual barrier. By tracing a circle around the position of the beacon - this circle can be set from 250 m to 50 km - the beacon sends an SMS alert if it leaves this predefined zone. If the beacon is hidden under your engine hood, for example, you can be alerted as soon as it leaves its place. It's up to you to find out whether this is normal or abnormal.
Able to warn by message
The big central button of the beacon is designed to send a message. This will be linked to a phone number which then receives an SMS with a predefined message. Some will choose to send an "all is well" message and will commit to press every day at fixed times for example, others prefer to send an alert message and will only press if everything goes wrong precisely.
Easy to use
Starting up the beacon and recharging is very simple. All you have to do is buy the beacon (149.00 euros with one year's subscription on the date of activation by the user). This beacon is then recharged in the form of a prepaid card (3.6 or 12 months - 19.90 euros, 29.90 euros and 49.90 euros). Everything happens from the application where you enter the serial number of the tag you want to track and the number of the prepaid card.
A test to properly validate the product
We had the beacon provided by Plastimo, and were able to try it on several days. If the beacon is waterproof IP67 and its autonomy of one year appreciable, we regret that it is not even more miniature to better hide it. Also the elastic strap delivered with the beacon is practical to fix it on a tube or a spa tube big enough to put the beacon around your arm. Otherwise the product is pleasant by its simplicity of use. It fulfills its function perfectly. To you to imagine the use you can have!
