Each year, the World Superyachts Awards ceremony honors the "best" motor and sailing superyachts. In 2017, the evening was held on May 13, at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. In the motoryacht category, there were 9 candidates for the title. The debate between the judges was once again difficult, but all agreed to elect the yacht that would represent the "best of the best". And in this game, it was Dilbar, a 156 m long superyacht, and the world's largest motor yacht in terms of gross tonnage (volume), at 15,917 gross tons, that came out on top.

She is without doubt one of the most complex and ambitious yachts ever built, in terms of both size and technology. All the judges who visited the boat agreed on the quality of design and construction, which they deemed superb. She was built at the German Lurssen shipyard in 2016 to designs by naval architects Espen Oeino. This is the 4 e largest yacht in the world, behind the Azzam (180 m), the Eclipse (164 m) and the Al Saïd (162 m), at a reported cost of $600 million.

Inside, both the construction and layout are of the highest quality, with the use of rare materials and abundant finishing touches to give her a spectacular look. Also of note is the incredible 180 m3 indoor swimming pool, the largest ever installed on a yacht. Her 30,000 kW diesel-electric propulsion (a record for a superyacht), also gives her a cruising speed of 22 knots. Another remarkable feature is the accommodation of an Airbus H175 helicopter, valued at $17 million. The Dilbar can accommodate 40 guests in 20 cabins and 80 crew members.

The World Superyacht Awards recognize the ingenuity and innovation demanded by the design, engineering and construction of the world's finest luxury yachts. This event, eagerly awaited each year by the yachting elite, owners and industry leaders, determined the best superyachts launched throughout 2016.
