Watching his anchor slip at anchor, tired of not taking advantage of his nights in the creeks, Alain Maurin decided to dive to see what was going on under his hull. Visiting the Marseilles creeks, he realized that his flat anchor, regardless of the nature of the bottom, always ended up on the edge, working on only one of its two branches. The result was unsatisfactory and he always ended up retreating.
So this teacher has been working on improving his anchor. And eventually fit two "ears" on the blades of his anchor. Thus, as soon as it touches the bottom, instead of being laid flat, the anchor is slightly open, naturally planting its two tips. The stronger the traction on the chain, the more the "ears" open the anchor, encouraging it to plant itself even more. And if the wind turns, the anchor pivots around one of the two "ears" to replant just as quickly.
The intelligence of the product, apart from its efficiency, is that it fits on all flat anchors (whatever the brand). All you have to do is drill it to insert two bolts that hold the ears. A drill bit of the right diameter is even delivered with the anchor. Made of 8 mm galvanised steel, this unique model fits on all flat anchors, aluminium or steel up to 40 kg models. The kit is even delivered with a gasket to isolate the Anchor-Stop and avoid any electrolysis phenomenon with the anchor.
After many tests and after equipping his boat, Alain Maurin was heavily solicited by his pontoon neighbours. Faced with this craze, a company was created to launch production. An adventure that has now come to fruition with the presence of Stop-Ancre and the first sales at the La Ciotat boat show from 25 March to 2 April 2017.
The icing on the cake is in the selling price: the kit is offered at the introductory price of 59.00 euros. Much cheaper than a replacement anchor, more efficient than a flat anchor and always preferable to see your boat end up on the rocks.
Moreover, by using an anchor that does not shrivel, you are making an ecological gesture by preserving the funds. A safe and ecological gesture!
