TP 52: a collision that could have ended badly

In the middle of the Miami Royal Cup, currently taking place in the United States, the TP 52 Sled collided violently with Gladiator. No injuries were reported, but the vessel sustained some damage. Unbelievable!

On the Miami Royal Cup, a regatta reserved for the T P52, which is currently taking place in the United States, two yachts collided. The scene is filmed from Gladiator, sailboat of the English team of businessman Tony Langley.

While all the crew were on starboard to counterbalance, Sled - the American team's sailboat - suddenly collided to port. Its bowsprit even rips off one of the two steering wheels. Fortunately, no crew members were injured, as everyone was on the counter list! Unbelievable luck!

Quantum Racing team videographer Ben Durham was able to film this impressive scene

The TP 52 (Transpac 52) is a 52 foot (15.85 m) monohull designed to be crewed. Originally designed for the Transpacific, they have since competed in many other IRC regattas.
