A reserve in Corsica prohibited for navigation and anchorage...

The Scandola Reserve

The Scandola Reserve and the entire Gulf of Girolata and Porto are now protected by a ban on anchoring and sailing. Fortunately, this measure only affects very large vessels. Decryption.

The Préfecture maritime de méditerranée published on February 10, 2017 an order concerning the navigation zone around the Gulf of Girolata.

This decree aims to protect the site "Gulf of Porto: Calanque de Piana, Gulf of Girolata, Scandola Reserve" inscribed on the World Heritage List since 1983.

For this purpose, all vessels with a gross tonnage greater than or equal to 500 UMS and regardless of their flag (French or foreign) are prohibited from sailing in these waters.

For information, a 500 MSU gauge is equivalent to 200 tons. Therefore, this applies to vessels over approximately 45 m.

No panic for the boaters. Distrust for big yachts..
