Carré et cuisine du Dufour 63 Exclusive

He was expected. We were able to visit it. This is the Dufour 63 Exclusive, which marks the beginning of this new range at Dufour. The site is now aimed at customers looking for the top of the range. A success as we have noticed.

For all those who have not been able to discover the new Dufour 63 Exclusive in Düsseldorf, here are the first pictures of this exceptional unit. The 63 Exclusive is the first model in this range.

Certainly we had presented you the 56 Exclusive at the Cannes Motor Show in September 2016, but it was in fact an evolution of the 560 to adapt it to this new range. The 63 Exclusive is the first "real" model designed and conceived for this range.

The market seems to be emerging around this boat size. After the launch of the Oceanis Yacht 62 (first model of this new Bénéteau range), we saw the Hanse 675 and 588 It is essential to regularly check the condition of your lifejackets, since in the event of a fall into the sea it will allow you to float. Bavaria with the C57 that are also entering this market of large units.

Of course, these boats are 60 feet or more in length, but they can still be manoeuvred without the need for a crew. This absence of a sailor plays on the intimacy on board, but above all on the financial aspect. Paying staff for their leisure time is not within everyone's reach.

The particularity of the Dufour 63 Exclusive, in comparison with the competition, and the deliberate choice of the architect Umberto Felci to keep a boat in the spirit of the sailboat and not to transpose it into the world of super yachts.

The line is tight, the deckhouse is not too prominent and the cockpit not too high.

This design is accompanied by a very smooth flow of traffic on board. Here, only 2 steps give access to the rear skirt. Similarly, access to the forward deck from the steering stations is easily achieved by a single step.

We will also note the front flush deck which provides beautiful spaces for the sun. The sailboat on display in Düsseldorf did not have the famous electric sunbathing integrated in teak: an option that is likely to be very attractive.

The cockpit is really large (normal given the size of the boat). It is modular with 2 tables that fold up to free the way to the cabin and above all a dining area at the back that can be transformed into an outdoor kitchen or tanning area.

The interior is a reflection of the exterior design: Italian style. The finish is very careful with details that remind us that we are in a top-of-the-range world: leather door handles, stainless steel inserts, neat upholstery...

The proposed facilities range from 2 to 4 cabins. In any case, the rear volume is reserved for the owner's cabin - huge with a bed of 170 x 200 ! - with its own bathroom, sofa and desk.

In the version visited, it should be noted that there is no map table. Normally installed at the bottom of the starboard descent, it is replaced in this version by a crew cabin - children - with 2 bunk beds.

The U-shaped galley on the port side remains spacious with a large fridge and wine cellar. It still remains very present in the saloon, which shows that we are at the limit between the family sailboat where you cook for your guests and the charter boat with crew where the kitchen is often hidden so as not to disturb the passengers.

We look forward to seeing this unit in the water. For the moment the boat has only sailed by truck from the La Rochelle shipyard to Düsseldorf. It is planned to be launched in the Mediterranean at the end of the show to carry out the first tests and adjustments.

It is likely that this Felci hull design combined with the carbon rigging (an option like the canoe boom) will give good results in terms of performance. We will keep you informed...
