Unlikely Christmas meeting in the heart of the Indian Ocean!

Two Vendée Globe skippers, currently in 13th and 14th position in the Vendée Globe, have had the incredible opportunity to sail side by side off Tasmania, in the middle of the Indian Ocean. A wonderful Christmas present on December 24, 2016!

The Vendée Globe is a solo round the world race, where the skippers are alone on their boats, isolated from everything and everyone ! Some people sometimes have the chance to see a mast in the distance or to cross a cargo ship, but this is a completely different encounter to which Éric Bellion (Comme Un Seul Homme) and Alan Roura (La Fabrique) were entitled.

The two skippers had the chance to meet in the heart of the Indian Ocean as they approached Tasmania's longitude. We can also feel the excitement and emotion of Eric Bellion, who is filming the scene... which could have ended badly, because the two 60 foot monohulls are so close, that they could have collided...

It was an opportunity for Eric Bellion and Alan Roura to sing the traditional"Little Santa Claus" and to spend Christmas aboard since the two skippers were going to encounter a depression which forced them to brake. "Why not experience the Christmas miracle 50° South off Tasmania" explains Eric Bellion!
