Crosscall Trekker M1, the waterproof smartphone for going out to sea

Waterproof smartphone Trekker M1 from Crosscall

We have tested for you the Crosscall Trekker M1, a rugged smartphone specially designed for outdoor sports. Waterproofing and wet finger function should appeal to water sports enthusiasts.

Waterproof

An essential feature for the sailor, the Crosscall Trekker M1 is waterproof and dustproof. It complies with the IP 67 standard and withstands immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 metre. Aurélien Ducroz even claims on the manufacturer's website that he recovered it in perfect condition after 3 hours underwater during the last Tour de France à la Voile.

A double SIM card cover ensures watertightness. A screwed cover is added to a second internal protection with gasket.

Can be used with wet fingers

The "Wet Touch" function allows you to use the Crosscall Trekker M1 with wet fingers. This is an essential asset in navigation, especially on small units. We have tested and validated it. It works perfectly with wet fingers or a fully wet screen. However, it can be a bit disruptive when only a few large drops are dripping on it and activating unwanted applications.

Shock resistant

When sailing hard, the mobile phone can take a beating. The Trekker M1 is shock-resistant. We were able to test it during an involuntary fall.

Classic smartphone functions

Beyond its high-end durability, the Trekker M1 from Crosscall offers all the functions of a classic smartphone. Running under Androïd 5.1.1, it has a Samsung 13 MP camera and a dual SIM card. Its autonomy in normal use is 20 hours of communication and 13 days on standby.

Heavy of its qualities

Watertightness and robustness pay off in weight. The Trekker M1 weighs 224g, almost double the weight of a conventional phone of this size. Considering that a waterproof smartphone shell weighs around 100g, the total weight is comparable while limiting the number of components.

Although it was not built in France, the Trekker M1 is designed and marketed there by Crosscall, a company of 57 people based in Aix-en-Provence.
