Is it time for the release?
Leaving the pontoon and going up the channel is not an easy moment. There is the stomach which is all hard, there are the tears which come out. Of course, leaving the family is not easy. To leave the earthlings is never obvious! But in a few hours, you will finally become a real sailor. Savor this for 80 days and when you return there will be tears, but of true happiness and pleasure.
But now, it's true that it's complicated. We are not supermen, we are simply little men. We're leaving for three months at sea with a big feeling in our stomachs. But in a few hours, we'll be able to finally take part and enjoy this Vendée Globe.
Do you feel more serene than 8 years ago?
I try to be more serene, I took a little more bottles. But it was my little girl who made me break down. Emilie, 5 years old, had a hard time leaving her daddy. The older ones were also a little teary-eyed, I thought it would be easier than that anyway. We still hope so.
