Alain Pochon, President of the Grand Pavois gives us his opinion on the economic situation of the yachting industry and its impact on the market.

As a market player, with the economic crisis that has lasted for several years, is there a change in consumption?

We are rather in a stable situation as far as motorboats are concerned, with a slight regression as far as sailing boats are concerned. As far as registrations are concerned, we are not progressing, we are stable, it is getting better.

Haven't you noticed any changes in the way your customers buy?

The boats that are presented are small and medium boats and are selling, but also some large units are selling. Last year, there were big boats that sold. We also have the multihull market which is progressing. Depending on the customers, you have people who come to the GP to change their boat from an 8m unit to a 6.50m unit or the other way aroundâeuros¦ Or people who want to do long distance sailing and buy a travel boat.

The boating population is rather aging, what do you propose to attract younger people?

The Beach with all the youth on all the events and all these new board sports. You have motorboating on small boats, semi-rigid boats that bring first-time buyers who are generally young people and who want to do water skiing, etc. We are rather in a renewal of the clientele towards the young people.

And that's why you have all these themes on the Grand Pavois . In addition to the exhibition, we have a number of activities and animations during the whole exhibition.
