Garmin Nautix, glasses as a remote screen

Intended for demanding and concentrated users, the Garmin Nautix is installed on a pair of glasses to display the data of the edge directly under eyes.

After the Garmin Quatix 3, the connected watch that displays boat information on the wrist screen, Garmin goes one step further and launches the Garmin Nautix, a new breed of display to be installed on its glasses.

This product is adapted from the world of the bicycle (where it exists under the name of Garmin Varia Vision). It is a screen that can be fixed on any pair of glasses (sunglasses or corrective). The small screen displays all the information from the boat's data. So without looking down or losing sight of the horizon, you have all the data of your boat in front of you!

Be careful, it is not a head-up display that projects the information on your screen (here the glasses) but a small screen that allows you to see the figures. By placing it on the side of your lens, you will still have to turn your eye to read it. With a system of clips, the Garmin Nautix fits on all sunglasses or glasses.

The Garmin Nautix connects via wifi to the GNX Wind, GPSMAP 7400 or GPSMAP 8400. With 12 screens that scroll at the touch of a button, you can scroll through all the NMEA 2000 information. Of particular note is the regatta screen with distance to the line and countdown timer.

So, gadget for geeks or real additional display on board? To answer this question, you will have to try this product which already appears to be a real evolution in the world of marine electronics. We can imagine a regatta start where the helmsman can keep an eye on the countdown at any time without losing sight of his opponents. The future?
