Arcadia Sherpa, fishing, exploration or cruising?

At Stand A21 in Hall 6 of the Boot in Düsseldorf, a very strange boat is on display. With its rounded shape at the front and its very high sides, this model stands out among the more classically designed motorboats. But in addition to an intriguing design, the Arcadia Sherpa is fully modular, both inside and out, and operates on low fuel consumption. Innovative!

This model is the Sherpa, presented worldwide by Arcadia Sherpa. It is exhibited on the show in its Open Deck/two cabins version. This new model is part of the recent extension of the GRP range of Arcadia Sherpa. Together with the Arcadia 100 (under construction), the GPR range is composed as follows: Sherpa, Arcadia 85, Arcadia 85S, Arcadia 100 and Arcadia 115. All models are built using a dedicated model, one for each model. The shipyard will soon reveal details of the production plans for these steel and aluminum displacement boats, from 135 to 150 feet.

The boat, which will be exhibited for the first time at the Boot in Düsseldorf, is designed for Mediterranean cruising. "This specific version in his move-in is the most requested" arcadia explains. Layering of hull #2 began in September 2015 and was completed in December 2015. The launch is scheduled for spring 2016.

Sherpa is an avant-garde design yacht of 16.8 m with a wide beam of 5.60 m. She has all the key features of a large yacht: interior/exterior space, high performance and efficient hull, well lit with modern interiors. But what characterizes it is the large modular cockpit of 41m2 and its modular interior.

Interior and exterior design à la carte

Sherpa's main objective was to be as flexible as possible. Several configurations are proposed: day-cruiser, platform boat, support vessel for seaside villas or megayachts, mini-yacht, day-boat or even fishing boatâeuros¦

The cockpit is available in two versions: Open deck or Salon deck. Several interior layouts are also possible: one, two or three cabins. The Open boat version with a main deck free of any furniture can be configured as a support vessel. For daily use, the owner will prefer an open deck configuration with a single owner's cabin. For a family cruise, it will be preferable to opt for a two or three cabin version.

One cabin version (owner's suite)

The spacious owner's suite features a modular living room/den area with sliding panels that create different spaces and a walk-in closet with access to the full width bathroom.

Two cabins version

In addition to the owner's suite with dressing room and bathroom, there is a 2 e 2 m high cabin with two side-by-side bunks and a functional bathroom with separate shower for guests.

Three-cabin version

The three-cabin version of the new Arcadia features a king-size bed for the owner, located forward, with a spacious bathroom and separate shower. The two guest cabins both have a 2-meter high ceiling and a shared bathroom with access from the corridor. Sherpa also offers the possibility to have a crew cabin.

For the Asian market

Sherpa has also been designed to meet the demands of the Asian market by offering sufficient shaded areas in the lounge deck version. There is also a special version with a large shaded veranda.

Arcadia Sherpa has a new concept of sport flybridge, "the easy to close flybridge" convertible into a closed platform, completely protected by side windows, which can be opened and closed, like in a car. The flybridge can therefore be completely adapted to the sailing schedule: closed in hot areas (with air conditioning) or in bad weather, or open to let the air through the fly.

In addition to its flexible layout, Sherpa offers an unexpected 13 m2 (7m3) of storage space below the main deck. This leaves the main flush-deck completely free. This storage space has direct and easy access, with a useful interior height of 125 cm. The storage lockers can be used to store mooring lines, water toys, fishing and/or diving equipment, sports gear (kayak, kitesurf, windsurfâeuros¦). But the space can also be used to store the optional Seakeeper stabilizer in the center section.

It is to this large storage space that the boat owes its name: Sherpa, the legendary Himalayan people, capable of carrying large loads.

An efficient hull

With its semi-displacement NPL hull - which offers significant fuel savings âeuros and with an additional fuel tank, the Sherpa is suitable for both day cruising and long distance cruising. The NPL hull is a specific type of hull, named after the National Physical Laboratory (England), where tests have been carried out to determine the best ratio between length and width in terms of hydrodynamic efficiency.

Thanks to its lightweight superstructure, the Sherpa promises a very satisfactory performance with low-power engines. With Volvo Penta IPS 600 engines, the boat has a top speed of about 25 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots. At 20 knots, fuel consumption is about 97 liters per hour, and at 12 knots (maximum displacement speed), this decreases consumption by about 43 liters per hour.

The Volvo IPS propulsion guarantees maneuverability and silence. In the cruising version, the Sherpa can be equipped with solar panels (placed on the entire superstructure) that provide 4KW of electrical energy. This reduces the use of the generator.

The latest generation of solar cells are integrated between the external and internal surfaces of the double glazed panels on top of the majority of the superstructure. This advanced and ecological system provides enough power (4 KW) for the equipment and electrical systems: refrigerators, water circulation, toilets, lighting, audio/video, electronics, battery recharging. Each double-glazed panel contains a special gas called Krypton, which guarantees a high insulation coefficient, between 18° and 24° of thermal cooling between interior and exterior temperatures, the equivalent of a 20 cm brick wall.
