European Powerboat of the Year 2016, here are the winners

Like its sailing counterpart, the 2016 European Powerboat of the Year awards recognize the top five new powerboats of 2016. Here are the winners in each category.

Each year, the top of the European boating industry awards the best powerboats of the year. The jury consists of editors from eight European powerboat magazines: Badnyt (Norway), BoatMag (Italy), Boote (Germany), Marina.ch (Switzerland), Motorboot (Netherlands), Nautica y Yates (Spain), Neptune (France) and Yacht Revue (Austria).

The jury was able to decide between 24 new boats divided into five classes: up to 25 feet, up to 35 feet, up to 45 feet, over 45 feet and displacement hulls (trawlers), where the length is not important.

The winners were announced on the opening night of the Boot in Dusseldorf on January 23, 2016, during Flagship night. Receiving this award indicates that the boat is a promising innovation for the upcoming 2016 boating season. The European Powerboat of the Year is the most in-depth competition for production powerboats.

The 24 boats were tested and evaluated on several criteria such as quality/price ratio, performance and innovation. The idea is to reward the models that have these values, regardless of the brand or the market distribution. That's why there are five categories by length, so that the larger and more recognized powerboats don't overshadow the smaller or less popular boats, but with special characteristics.
