Lionel Péan, winner of the 900 Nautics of Saint-Tropez

SFS II arrived this Wednesday, March 25 at 5:16 am in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. She wins the 900 Nautiques de Saint-Tropez, in real time, after 3 days, 17 hours and 1 minute.

SFS II lionel Péan's VOR 70 arrived at dawn this Wednesday morning, March 25. By crossing the line anchored in front of the Portalet tower, in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez at 5:16 am, Lionel Péan and his 11 crewmen won the victory in real time. It took them 3 days, 17 hours and one minute to cover the 1100 mile course (Minorca, Sardinia and Corsica).

On this 6 e edition of Les Nautiques de Saint-Tropez, Lionel Péan didn't beat his record from last year (3 days, 8 hours and 2 minutes), but he played well. Indeed, when his boat burned down last February, the skipper didn't let it get him down and did everything he could to find a new VOR 70. Thus, a few weeks ago, he got the training boat of Team SCA in the United States. As a reminder, Team SCA is the women's team currently racing in the Volvo Ocean Race.

With this victory, Lionel Péan and his team achieve a double by having succeeded in starting the race and taking the victory. The sailors will be able to continue to tame this new boat, which has already revealed its potential, before tackling the SNIM (Société Nautique de Marseille) on April 3.

" We set out with the aim of discovering our boat, which we had acquired only five weeks ago, in a race", says the skipper of SFS II. "With only one week of training in our legs, we were not able to get the most out of the boat. We had to get the hang of it by finding the right settings and balance. This is what we did in weather conditions that were not very conducive to setting a record, but which did allow us to multiply the sail combinations and to discover the boat's extraordinary potential The former Puma Mar Mostro has proven to be particularly pleasant at the helm, and very comfortable in the Mediterranean chop. "It seems lighter," confirms Lionel, "less humid, with a good passage in the swell, and a very interesting ergonomics which facilitates the movements of the crew and the equipment."

Now, we have to wait for the 10 boats still racing (the only trimaran in the race) to be able to give the results in compensated time.
