Presentation of François Gabart's new trimaran

This Thursday, November 27, François Gabart visited the construction site of his new 100-foot trimaran in the Macif colors.

François Gabart has been able to fly the Macif colors with two prestigious victories with his 60-foot Macif. First of all the Vendée Globe in 2013 with a record time of 78 days 2 hours 16 minutes and 40 seconds, and then more recently, the Route du Rhum 2014 with a first place in the Imoca class and a new reference record after 12 days 4 hours 38 minutes and 55 seconds.

From now on, a new chapter will be written between François Gabart and Macif with the construction of a 100-foot ocean-going multihull that will spearhead the Macif Solidarité Mer program. The young sailor from Vendée will be skipper of the trimaran and sponsor of this new ocean racing program.

Currently under construction at the Multiplast yard in Vannes for the central hull and at the CDK yard in Port la Fôret for the floats and the linking arms, this trimaran has cost Macif 25 million euros.

A new program of solidarity ocean racing

This new trimaran is based on a program that combines solo ocean records for the benefit of solidarity causes, races and events for all of the company's publics (employees, delegates and members). It will highlight the solidarity commitments made by the various activities of the mutual insurance company, whether in the field of eco-navigation, environmental protection, or in making the maritime world accessible to people with disabilitiesâ?¦ not forgetting the prevention campaigns on risks at sea. " This new sporting challenge aboard the Macif trimaran will enable me to take up real human and technical challenges, while flying the colors of Macif and its values of solidarity, which we have shared for 4 years now. I hope that this new story of adventurer of the seas will allow me once again to surpass myself and to make as many people as possible dream "said François Gabart.

This 100-foot multihull designed for single-handed offshore sailing belongs to the Ultimates category. It will be launched by the summer of 2015 so that the navigator can familiarize himself with the giant trimaran before undertaking major solo records followed by a round-the-world race.
