Top 5 largest megayachts in the world

With their gigantic size, sleek lines, numerous decks and extravagances - helicopter pads, swimming pools, movie theater, integrated harbor - luxury yachts of outrageous proportions are the stuff of dreams. But what are the largest yachts in the yachting world?

1 - Azzam

The largest yacht in the world is Azzam, owned by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyane, President of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Abu Dhabi. Completed in April 2013, she was designed in Germany by the Lürssen Yacht DR yard to the designs of engineer Mubarak al Ahbabi. Azzam, which is 180 meters long took 3 years to build and cost the small fortune of about 470 million euros. Despite its immense size, it is fast and capable of sailing in shallow waters. It has a 94,000 horsepower engine and can reach speeds of 30 knots (55 km/h) - the fastest in the world - and its tank can hold 1 million liters of fuel.

On the interior, we don't know much about the largest yacht in the world except that she has 6 decks and a 550 m2 salon.

2 - Eclipse

Until a year and a half ago, the Eclipse was the largest yacht in the world at 163 meters long. Built by the Blohm & Voss shipyards in Hamburg, Germany in 2009, it was put into service in 2010. It belongs to the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and would have cost 350 million euros even if rumors announce a final cost of 900 million euros. Eclipse, which was voted "Yacht of the Year 2011" has 7 decks, a 465 m2 suite with retractable roof and private garden, not to mention a private cinema for the owner. The Eclipse, which is similar to a cruise ship, has a nightclub with two dance floors, an international library, a cinema, a restaurant, a giant aquarium, an art gallery, a bank, two swimming pools, a massage salon, a fitness room, a hairdressing salon, several Jacuzzis, a sauna, a hammam and a floating inner harbor that can accommodate 3 large boats. Let's not forget a helicopter pad, and the highlight of the show, an anti-paparazzi system... It can accommodate 40 passengers and 70 crew members.

The Dubai is a 162 meter long yacht built for Mohammed ben Rashid Al Maktoum, the Emir of Dubai. Worth 300 million euros, she was launched in 2006 and underwent major renovations in 2010: exterior painting, improved wastewater treatment and new audiovisual and computer system.

Five VIP suites and numerous cabins allow 72 people to be accommodated on board, not counting the 60 to 120 crew members (during cruises). She also has two lounges, a large dining room, a helicopter pad, a swimming pool, a discotheque and several garages, containing jet-skis and diving equipment. She does not sail much and often stays in the port of Dubai.
