Excess 16: The Bordeaux shipyard is preparing its new flagship

Excess is preparing to take the next step in the development of its lineup. The Bordeaux-based shipyard is working on a larger catamaran, named the Excess 16, which is set to become its new flagship. Although still largely under wraps, the project already reveals its ambitions: to enhance long-distance cruising capabilities and onboard comfort without compromising the sailing experience that defines the brand.

A New High for the Excess Line

Something even bigger is in the works in Bordeaux. After developing its lineup of catamarans that combine cruising with the thrill of sailing, Excess is set to reach a new milestone with the Excess 16.

The upcoming model will be the flagship of the brand's lineup. The shipyard is remaining very tight-lipped about its technical specifications for now, but has confirmed a stronger focus on extended cruising and long-distance voyages.

So this isn't simply a matter of scaling up the design used for existing models. Excess presents this boat as a true companion for a ?lifetime project,? intended for owners who want to enjoy more sailing and travel aboard it.

Reverse bows and watch station

Few technical details have emerged so far. Among the first clues available, however, are inverted bows, in keeping with the brand?s stylistic language. A helm seat is also reportedly planned for the vessel, a feature consistent with the boat?s claimed long-range cruising capabilities.

As for the rest, Excess is still keeping everyone in suspense. Displacement, exact length, beam, sail area, propulsion system, layout plans, and number of cabins have yet to be revealed.
