Arnaud Boissières in the IMOCA class: April Marine strengthens its role but budget still to be completed

Arnaud Boissières prepares for the 2026 season with reinforced support from April Marine. The Sablais skipper has restructured his project after a change of direction with his partners. But financial equilibrium remains to be finalized before the first races.

In ocean racing, the solidity of a project is measured as much by the reliability of the boat as by the reliability of its financing. To start your 6 e Vendée Globe, the iconic single-handed round-the-world skipper is looking to top up his budget.

April Marine, a partner with a new dimension

The company based in Les Sables d'Olonne becomes the project's main co-partner. This step-up is part of an already established relationship. The skipper and the insurer have worked together on recent projects, including the Mini Transat 2025.

This type of continuity brings stability. It allows us to start the season with a financial base and a coherent project. But it does not cover all ?????? needs.

A budget to complete to secure the season

Despite this support, some 400,000 Euros remain to be raised to complete the 2026 season. This additional funding is vital for the boatâ??s preparation, logistics and ability to complete a series of races in good conditions. At this level, every job counts: shipyard, sails, electronics, technical team. The search for a second main partner therefore becomes an immediate challenge, as we approach the planned relaunch in April 2026.

An experienced skipper on the IMOCA circuit

Arnaud Boissières is one of the most regular sailors on the circuit. He has started 5 Vendée Globe races and finished 4 of them, a remarkable feat in an event where abandonment is still frequent.

This finisher's profile is an argument in favor of partners. It reflects an ability to manage a project over time, preserve equipment and take a boat to the finish. His track record is one of consistency rather than dazzle, with a focus on reliability.

The season is organized around three major events. The 1000 Race in Port la Forêt on May 2026, the Vendée Arctique in June 2026 and the Route du Rhum on November 1, 2026.

An existing IMOCA to keep costs down

The skipper sails a tried and tested boat, previously sailed by Benjamin Dutreux. This choice limits the initial investment, while providing a competitive platform. On the other hand, upgrade possibilities remain limited by the existing architecture. Priority is therefore given to improving reliability and optimization, rather than to heavy development.
