The crank remains a central element of the cockpit, especially on sailboats not equipped with electric winches. With the Speed Grip&Go, Harken offers an evolution of its aluminum crank, incorporating a quick-locking mechanism and a handle optimized for work under load.
One-hand locking and unlocking
The system is based on a locking mechanism integrated into the handlebar. Simply press the palm of your hand against the handle to unlock the crank. Releasing the handle locks it automatically into the winch.
This principle simplifies handling when inserting or removing the crank handle, particularly during repeated manoeuvres in regattas or rapid changes of tack. The aim is clear: limit unnecessary movements and ensure safe engagement.
SpeedGrip technology and dual mode operation

The Speed Grip&Go incorporates SpeedGrip technology developed by Harken. The ball-bearing-mounted thumbwheel pivots independently of the crank body.
In concrete terms, for light loads, adjustment can be made quickly and easily with the palm of the hand, using the handle's free rotation. As the load increases, the crew member can switch to two-handed engagement to transmit more power.
This dual approach allows you to adapt the gesture to the tension of the sheet or halyard, without changing tools.
Construction and features
The aluminum version weighs 605 g and is 254 mm long, the standard 10 inches. A carbon version is available as an option for performance-oriented programs.
The aluminium version is priced at around 180 euros.
The Speed Grip&Go does not revolutionize the principle of the hand crank, but brings an ergonomic evolution consistent with today's maneuvering requirements, whether on cruisers or more performance-oriented boats.
