Temo Outpod: an adjustable electric propulsion solution for yachts up to 9 m in length

Designed for small and medium-sized sailboats, the Outpod offers a technical alternative to the classic outboard and fixed pod. External architecture, vertical lift, 180° rotation, hydrogeneration, all combined with simplified installation and customizable autonomy.

Faced with the recurring constraints associated with the installation of fixed pods or the ergonomic limitations of outboard motors, the OUTPOD is positioned as a hybrid system. It is aimed at boats between 6 and 9 meters, with one requirement: to offer a clean, efficient, lightweight propulsion system that can be dismantled and adapted to the constraints of sailing.

External architecture to minimize work on the hull

Unlike conventional pods requiring drilling and fixed integration, the OUTPOD is totally external. Its sliding vertical mast allows deployment to suit the depth of the rudder or propeller, and its complete retraction limits drag and the risk of corrosion.

Side or rear mounting is carried out via a tool-free slide rail, eliminating the need for any structural modifications to the transom. The assembly can be reversed in just a few minutes for easy storage, wintering or transport.

180° rotation propulsion with hydrogeneration

The drive head, incorporating a 48V electric motor, features a rotating shaft for full 180° orientation. This configuration significantly improves the sailboat's maneuverability, especially when reversing or docking.

In terms of performance, rotation facilitates hydrogeneration. Once the motor is in the passive position, recharging efficiency is optimized, prolonging overall range, particularly useful when cruising.

Direct drive and passive cooling

The motor/propeller assembly is based on a direct gearless transmission. This reduces mechanical losses and simplifies maintenance. The motor is cooled by contact with water, without the need for a pump, reducing the risk of breakdown.

Control is via a remote control with digital display. This interface centralizes control of speed, direction of travel, state of charge and engine temperature.

On the power supply side, two systems are compatible:

Batteries can be positioned at the foot of the mast for better weight centering, or stored outboard for racing or winter use.

Suitable for sailboats from 6 to 9 metres in length

The OUTPOD package is available in three power ratings (500W, 1kW, 3kW), with a maximum thrust of 67 kg (roughly equivalent to 5 HP).

The product is designed to meet :

  • boaters looking for clean, easy-to-integrate engines,
  • sailors who want to avoid drag when racing,
  • construction sites or rental companies looking for quick-to-deploy solutions.

Designed and assembled in Brittany, the OUTPOD is a 100% French product. The local production chain guarantees assembly quality and parts availability. The system is marketed at around 3âeuros¯000Â euros for basic models, up to 4âeuros¯990Â euros with a top-of-the-range battery pack.
