For the past 3 years, Nicolas Mignot has been working on a system of " boat trailer, an extension kit for on-board storage, a sort of gallery as for cars "he explains. After all, how do you easily fit accessories such as paddles, buoys, dinghies and wakeboards onto a boat? As the owner of a motorboat with 2 outboards on the transom, he was faced with this space problem.
Tubes to cover outboards
To solve his problem, he came up with the Annexotech. This is a system of 316L stainless steel tubes which cover the engine(s) at the stern of the boat. The engines are thus protected, even when raised. For harbor maneuvers, if the Annexotech slams into the quay, it is fitted with internal springs to cushion the impact. The assembly provides both storage and protection. Weighing 34 kg in its single-engine version, the Annexotech is adaptable to all types of boat. It is available in 3 sizes, covering transoms from 80 to 280 cm. The product's three sizes cover all outboard motorization solutions: single, twin or three engines.
No more davits?
The Annexotech also replaces davits. The dinghy slides over the inclined tubes, staying in place above the water during sailing. A pulley mounted on the top tube is used to raise the dinghy or paddle.
Winner of the Concours Lepine
Annexotech has just won a gold medal at the Concours Lépine in May 2024. At present, production is possible, but still on a cottage-industry basis. Should sales take off, we'll need to find partners for our inventor.
The patented product, manufactured entirely in France, is available from ?4,100 ex-VAT to ?6,000 ex-VAT, depending on size. This price is set to fall as production becomes more industrialized. Only time will tell if users are willing to make their boats heavier and longer at the stern...
