Zodiac Nomad, an updated range of aluminum tenders

With 5 models, the Zodiac Nomad range tackles the semi-rigid aluminum dinghy market. This is a market of particular interest to sailing and motor boats of a certain size, and capable of carrying them on board.

Zodiac launches a new range of tenders. Nomad are semi-rigid aluminum-hulled tenders. Available in 5 sizes from 2.70 m to 3.90 m, these boats are designed to be used as tenders for larger boats and catamarans with davits. But these small craft can also be used as boats for first-time buyers.

Aluminum shell = weight savings

In addition to its resistance to scratching, particularly on beach sand, the main advantage of aluminum is its weight. For the same size, it weighs 30% less than polyester. To enhance comfort, these tenders are all equipped with a floor. This means that the crew's feet are flat on the floor, while the hull bottom is V-shaped.

Thermal or electric outboard

Depending on their size, these tenders will be powered by outboards ranging from 2.5 to 30 hp. A front locker is also provided to accommodate a nurse or battery for electric motorization. At the very front, an anchor locker separate from the locker accommodates a grappling hook. Each of these lockers is watertight, with a gasket around the covers. While the smaller models have no fittings other than one or two transverse benches, the 3.90 m can be fitted with a console and a seat for installing a remote control.

Colors for fun

To revitalize its image, Zodiac has decided to play the color card for its new Nomad range. The fabric used for the bladders will be Hypalon Neoprene from Orca, a benchmark brand, or PVC for the less high-end models. If the Hypalon is white, the PVC can be light grey or firecracker blue. On the latter, the side protection of the tubes is yellow. Blue and yellow: Zodiac's historic colors.

Falling prices

Zodiac already had a range of tenders with aluminum bottoms. The Nomad range, which replaces it, is priced 10% lower than the previous generation. Prices range from ?2,700 to ?6,000 excluding VAT.
