Aeolus, an evolving floating sanctuary to adapt to the evolution of yachting

Aeolus is the latest concept from Oceanco. It is a 131 m superyacht with an elegant design, capable of adapting to different developments in alternative propulsion.

A round design

Aeolus is a new 131m superyacht concept unveiled by Oceanco, based on the NXT initiative. It is a collaborative commitment to the future, bringing together experts from different industries to offer yacht owners a way to live better while respecting the oceans. It is a kind of demonstrator of future technical capabilities and materials used on board. Named after the Greek god of wind, Aeolus is designed as a floating "sanctuary" by Giles Taylor for the exterior design and Njord by Bergman Design House for the interior design.

Its design, with its large floating decks, is elegant and curved. It is a reference to the J-class yachts of the last century. Apart from the deck surfaces, no surface is flat or brutally geometric. The long bow and aft-facing superstructure are composed of three distinct living spaces. Her three glass-covered decks offer a breathtaking view of the marine environment.

A development spread over three bridges

Inside, the owner's only private deck, with a bar and lounge area above, can be privatized or used as a family gathering place. The next lower level, or upper deck, houses the cocoon-like master suite with its unobstructed panoramic views. It features a sunken bathtub and a private sitting area for relaxing. The aft portion of the upper deck is dedicated to a multi-functional space for relaxation, dining or business meetings. Fully glazed, it has a symmetrical layout reminiscent of the great liners of the golden age.

The main deck features an elegantly integrated pool and lounge area aft with stairs leading down to the beach club. The first point of entry on Aeolus is the main deck lounge, with stairs leading down to an interior atrium with another living area. Two guest suites are located forward on the main deck, next to the gym, and the outdoor atrium, which is open to the top, offers unobstructed views on both sides.

Two VIP suites and two guest suites are located on the lower deck, just steps away from the large, multipurpose beach club with fold-down decks that offer plenty of places to relax. This space features a bar under the glittering pool skylight above and a multipurpose area. All decks are connected by a central elevator and staircase to the beach club, where annexes are hidden in the garage.

Sustainable materials for the interior

For the interior design, Oceanco has favored sustainable and traceable materials, including biomaterials. For example, Desserto is a vegan leather alternative made from cactus plants. Oliveri Homes works exclusively with Global Organic Textile Standard cottons and uses non-toxic processes and dyes to create its materials.

A structure capable of evolving in line with the energy transition

In order to adapt to future technical developments concerning new propulsion modes, Lateral and Oceanco have developed this platform to be able to modify the layout, configurations and specifications necessary to integrate future technologies and alternative fuels. In the current state of development, Aeolus will be equipped with a diesel electric system with batteries. Step 2 will consist in evolving the system according to the fuel cell developments and the integration of multi-fuel engines. Finally, step 3 will be to have no more diesel on board and to have a fuel cell hybrid with a non-diesel internal combustion engine.
