Cape Cod 767, a dayboat that breaks away from the usual codes

Why make concessions to design your ideal small dayboat? That's what Rosewest has done with the Cape Cod 767, a very successful dayboat that offers performance and pleasure to a hedonistic crew.

There are clever boats. The Cape Cod 767 is one of them. No doubt it is due to the blank page from which its designer started. Hervé Nollet has imagined a refined dayboat to take pleasure on board. Without preconceived ideas, he designed a high-performance and intelligent boat.

The specifications for this atypical boat are very broad. It describes a transportable sailboat, easy to launch and to sail, offering a sleeping area for 2 adults, a modern and racy line, performances above the average, in short a five-legged sheep.

A silhouette that magnetizes the eye

However, the Rosewest shipyard, which also produces the neo-retro Cape Cod 896, has done a good job. The Cape Cod 767 offers an eye-catching silhouette. With its inverted bow and its totally flush line, it makes you want to stop for a while. The cabin, rather envisaged as a shelter, is located under the front deck, hidden under a sundeck. The hatch to access it is wedged in a slanted open position, offering a backrest to this sunbathing area. Clever!

The interior of the cabin, without any porthole, is limited to two beds with the possibility of installing a chemical toilet. We will be able to sleep there, but no question of standing upâ?¦

A pure line

To clean up the line of this very modern bow, the furler is below deck. It is set back from the bow, while the code zero reefing system is at the very tip. The maneuvers of the latter, as well as the asymmetrical spinnaker tack, come back below deck directly at the mast foot.

Solo or short-handed

It is at this mast foot that the boat is maneuvered, with wedges hidden behind the butt bail. It is clean and smart. No rope is left in the cockpit. The tiller with its stick leaves the skipper free to carry out his maneuvers solo. On each side of the cockpit, two cushioned seats are there to make sailing on the Cape Cod 767 more enjoyable. Remember that the pleasure of sailing remains the number one concept of this dayboatâeuros¦

Electric motor to avoid disturbing the navigation

At anchor, the cockpit floor rises to provide a real table for the crew. Aft, there is a locker on the port side for fenders and mooring lines, while the starboard locker hides an electric motor that emerges from the water and is completely hidden when under sail, thanks to an intelligent kinematics chair.

The battery, which offers 2 hours of autonomy at full speed, is housed under the cabin's sleeping quarters, right at the foot of the mast, as a result of the centering of the weight.

Launching and masting with 2 people

To manage the 360 kg daggerboard which retracts entirely into the hull, a small hydraulic power plant operating with an electric motor is present. The launching is thus simplified, the sailboat slides from its trailer directly into the water and the mast is done with 2 people.

2 versions for the pleasure of sailing

We discovered the Cape Cod 767 in its Lounge version, but a Performa version is already planned. It will be 180 kg lighter, by removing the saddlery and the teak on the deck, and above all will gain in performance by installing a carbon mast and a bowsprit which will carry a larger sail area.

This elegant and atypical sailboat is offered from 120,000 euros TTC, the Lounge version of this small dayboat manufactured in Bordeaux that we were able to discover being displayed at 140,000 euros TTC.
