If the first Excess models were ersatz Lagoon, catamarans built from Lagoon hulls, the Excess 14 is a real development in its own right . Led by VPLP, the study of the boat focused on a greater pleasure at the helm. To achieve this, the keels have been enlarged to limit their chord and thus have less drag, while allowing the installation of deeper rudders. Also, the hull design is asymmetrical. The outside of the hull is larger than the inside, so that the wave created between the hulls is less penalising.
This catamaran keeps its helm stations set back from the hulls and avoids the fly so that the boom is just above the deckhouse.
