Cruise internships at GlobeSailor
Having become a reference for holidaymakers looking for a boat to rent, GlobeSailor was not yet identified in the field of training courses in houseboat sailing. It is now done with an offer specially designed by the travel agency for its customers.
GlobeSailor offers one-week courses on board a Hanse 44 departing from the port of Lorient Kernével. Supervised by Catherine, an experienced sailing instructor with many transatlantic races under her belt, the trainees (maximum 6) travel the coast of Southern Brittany while learning.
Training in navigation and technique
GlobeSailor's cruising courses are aimed at a variety of levels and are based on the choice of a high-performance boat. "It's a light boat, with a symmetrical and asymmetrical spinnaker, more than 2 meters draft, which works well, even in light winds. The goal is really for clients to gain confidence and autonomy" explains Olivier Albahary, founder of GlobeSailor.
The trainees learn or revise both sailing and motor maneuvers, while sailing and in port, by day and by night. Reminders on weather, cartography or safety (man overboard, VHF...) are also on the program.
Becoming autonomous on a cruise
The objective of the course is the autonomy of the clients, so that they can serenely rent their own boat as skipper for the following vacations. They remove the brake that kept them from renting or save the service of a professional skipper.
For this, the trainees are involved in everything. "The choice of the course is made with the instructor according to the weather, then the trainees organize the supply and the on-board cash register, take part in the inventory, but also in the end cleaning. They are given tips that they can apply to their rentals. At the end, they will be able to rent with their family with peace of mind" concludes the director of GlobeSailor.
