NSX is the latest multifunctional display from Simrad. This device, available in 3 sizes (7, 9 and 12 inches) is in the mid-range. And yet, it is on this equipment that the Navico group (owner of the Simrad, Lowrance and B&G brands) has pushed its developments the most.
Today, the first approach with an electronic device, computer, telephone, etc., necessarily involves a phase of parameterization. Often painful, it is nevertheless unavoidable. With its new operating software, Simrad wanted to simplify this step as much as possible to make it more fun and more functional. It is not necessary to know the NMEA 2000 installation inside out, nor to read a 100-page manual. The user just answers simple questions (boat length, draft, etc.) to ensure that the unit is properly configured.

In addition to simplifying the configuration, this new operating system also greatly facilitates updates. These multifunctional screens are real computers. Updating them regularly gives access to new functions and allows you to fully enjoy them. This operation used to require an internet connection. It is now the cell phone that will serve as a link. Indeed, the mobile connected in wifi with the NSX will be the access point to the Internet. The pairing between the two devices is simply done with a QR code that the phone reads. Software and map updates will be done automatically as soon as you get on board. This new feature is also an opportunity for the brand to update their application on which you prepare your route and which synchronizes with the NSX once on board (route and waypoints).
