Special Edition / Amartec: Shock absorbers for longer lasting moorings

Amartec shock absorber

The Amartec company offers a mooring line shock absorber system that combines efficiency, durability and comfort for boaters on board. A product adapted to many boats, at the time of the release, for all those which want to make last their material.

Optimized geometry to absorb mooring tension

Feeling the boat move and hearing the mooring cleats suffer when waves or gusts of wind knock the mooring lines loose... A pain for any boater who cares about his boat and his equipment. Amartec offers a new mooring line damper solution to prevent these problems.

"The system is simple. Just run one side of the mooring line through the Amartec, then run it back through the other side, make a bowline knot. Pass the loop through the mooring cleat of the pontoon and make a lark's head. The remaining strand is then attached to the boat. When there is tension, the loop compresses the mooring line and absorbs up to 450 to 500 kilos says Romain Vallier, inventor of the product.

A robust system for a wide range of boats

Compared to existing systems, whether springs or rubber coils, the Amartec has the advantage of working only in compression, not in traction. Once flattened, the loop cushioned the 450 kg. The Amartec is no longer stressed and only the mooring line works. It can therefore not be damaged in case of overload. "It can't be faulted. This makes the Amartec suitable for boats from 3 to 12 tons. It accepts mooring lines up to 18 mm in diameter." says the company's founder.

Comfort and ease of use

Easy to install, the Amartec does not require a metal chain to be installed on the dock, as is most often the case with springs. These are now often prohibited by marinas. Moreover, the Amartec can be disassembled with a simple knot and can accompany the yachtsman during his cruises and prove to be invaluable in case of a stopover in harbors with a rough water surface.

Due to its geometry and its pure compression operation, the Amartec generates only a small amount of return movement. The comfort on board is thus of excellent quality, without noises or brutal movements.

Made In France

Amartec also takes a particular interest in its ecological footprint and the quality of its products. Entirely designed in France, the shock absorbers are made of natural rubber. The tooling was made near Montélimar and the production is carried out in the department of Isère.
