Glory, a superyacht design inspired by the world of Jules Verne

Glory is a 561-foot (170 m) expedition sailing superyacht designed by Steve Kozloff Designs with an aluminum hull for polar sailing. A concept that will undoubtedly seduce fans of the Jules Verne universe.

Designers like to invent yacht concepts that are out of the ordinary. This is often the case for Steve Kozloff Designs, which produces original designs. The latest one, called Glory, is a large motor and sail yacht of 170 m long (as a reminder, Azzam is currently the largest superyacht in the world with a length of 180 m).

Rigid sails

She is equipped with three masts that rotate 360° and tilt 70°, reducing the air draft from 27 to 14 m (to pass under the bridges) with Solid Sail sails with a surface area of 2787 m2. This 100% composite and foldable sail was designed to propel large liners, and invented by Chantiers de l'Atlantique. The self-supporting masts are without yards and shrouds to navigate in polar regions without inconvenience and equipped with a de-icing system. The handrails and doors are also equipped with a heating system to avoid ice formation.

A diesel-electric propulsion

In addition to the Euro sails which can be used alone from 20 knots of wind, Glory is equipped with a diesel/electric propulsion composed of 3 Cummins 6000 HP engines and two fixed electric motors. With a large tank of 294 tons, the designer foresees a range of 6,700 miles (about 20 days at a speed of 14 knots). The speeds envisaged are 14 knots under engine, 12 knots under sail and 17 knots in maximum speed.

Leisure facilities of all kinds

Among the equipment on board is a large garage that can accommodate 4 tenders, two Nemo U-Boat Worx submarines (with dedicated launching systems) and other water toys. A 188 m2 hangar with an elevating and gyrostabilized runway can accommodate up to 2 helicopters or 3 Evtol (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft). Nearby, two large cranes can load and unload special equipment. Like any self-respecting superyacht, Glory also has a 6x12m swimming pool, a dedicated submarine, a helipad and balconies on the aft area that extend over the sea.

A living area on 5 decks

The interior space, spread over 5 decks, is characterized by curved partitions and a multitude of windows of all shapes and sizes. The upper deck, decorated with marble, is an entertainment area and hosts a large piano bar. A total of 26 guests and 40 crew members can board the yacht, thanks to a huge 140 m2 owner's suite, 2 master suites and 11 twin cabins.
