Web series / Top start of the Mini Transat 2021, Hugo gives us the first 48 hours of the race

At the end of September 2021, Hugo took the start of the Mini Transat on his Maxi 650. He tells us in video the first 48 hours of the race.

The Mini Transat 2021 started in Les Sables-d'Olonne on September 26. The Minis are lined up on the same pontoon as their big brothers, the IMOCAs, when they set off for the Vendée Globe. Hugo and his Maxi 650 number 1014 will also cast off from this legendary pontoon.

As we have seen in the previous episodes, Hugo prepared himself well before the departure. It is thus serene that he returned to his boat in the morning to say goodbye to his family and friends.

The departure is made with a very nice weather even if the sea is a little chaotic. Everything went well for the navigator except for a starboard refusal with another competitor which resulted in a collision without too much damage and which did not affect the rest of the trip.

These first two days of racing have been upwind, which is not really comfortable for this type of small boat. Especially since the sea is still rough. This is the opportunity for Hugo to explain a front and its famous passage for the sailors who always hope to find behind them the right winds to push them towards the finish.
