Adventure 68, a long distance sailboat with a small crew

The naval architecture firm Dixon Yacht Design and the French builder JFA Yachts have just unveiled a design for an offshore sailing yacht in full dinghy form with an aluminum hull and a superstructure for well-protected sailing.

A sailing boat for long voyages

JFA Yachts, a French specialist in custom yacht construction, has teamed up with the naval architecture firm Dixon Yacht Design (Sealine, Moody) to design the Adventure 68. It is a 21.6 m long offshore sailing yacht designed for long distance cruising. This integral dinghy has an aluminum hull and a deck plan with a central cockpit for more protection. The layout, reminiscent of Moody, is quite different from what we find on the market, with a lower deck entirely dedicated to cabins.

" The high-volume hull, with its long waterline, echoes the design of modern short-handed racing yachts to provide the owner with exceptional performance combined with a layout that makes short-handed sailing safe and secure." explains architect Bill Dixon.

Sailing with a small crew

The large transom is open and offers enough aft deck space to accommodate the tender, which is launched with carbon davits. The dinghy can also be housed in a transverse garage. The two steering stations are equipped with GPS screens, engine controls and are adjacent to the winches so that maneuvers can be carried out as close as possible to the skipper, especially for short-handed sailing. The skipper will be able to steer in the company of guests comfortably installed in the exterior saloon and protected by the roof cap. The rig offers the possibility of rigging two headsails, which can be used together or separately. The Adventure 68 has a 114 m2 mainsail and a 134 m2 genoa.

A superstructure to ensure warm watch

The salon is located on the main deck, protected by a glass superstructure. There is an L-shaped galley, two squares, one U-shaped and the other facing each other, as well as a chart table. The cabins are also accessed from this protected area, which provides a well-protected watch. The superstructure can be equipped with solar panels to provide energy on board.

A lower deck dedicated to cabins

The lower deck houses 4 cabins, including the spacious owner's cabin forward and a triple cabin aft. Each has its own bathroom. There is also an enclosed galley and laundry area on this deck, as well as a large storage/workshop area.
