Icom IC-M94DE, the first portable VHF with an integrated AIS receiver

Icom hits hard. By proposing a complete portable VHF, both DSC to launch a distress signal, but especially which integrates an AIS receiver. A sort of Swiss Army knife of the VHF proposed at a really attractive price.

French law requires vessels that travel more than 60 miles from a shelter to carry a fixed VHF and a waterproof, buoyant portable VHF. The new Icom IC-M94DE meets this requirement, but adds DSC capability. This digital selective calling is distinguished by the distress button behind a flap on the back of the VHF. But above all, all DSC functions are also available, such as the ability to contact a friend ship in a private conversation.

But how do you locate and select that vessel? With the built-in AIS receiver, the small Icom IC-M94DE shows you the targets within reception range. On the screen, you just have to validate the right target and launch a call. Simple, accurate and effective!

This VHF floats (it is waterproof IPX7) with the automatic triggering of a flashing light when it falls into the water. It incorporates a GNSS receiver (GPS, GLONASS, QZSS and SBAS) which ensures a high level of accuracy and its battery lasts up to 11 hours depending on use. A "man overboard" (MOB) function is activated with the press of a single button.

This little jewel (the only portable VHF with AIS today!) is available from Icom dealers at 410 euros TTC.
