Simplified entry procedure for pleasure craft from the United Kingdom

Since the Brexit was in place, the entry of pleasure boats from the British Isles into French ports was limited to ferry ports, which were the only ones armed with Air and Border Police personnel. This limit is now being removed with a self-declaration procedure for entries, currently being tested in the port of Le Havre.

Since February 1, 2021, the United Kingdom has officially left the European Union, thus ending the possibility for its nationals to enter France through all ports.

It is necessary to present oneself to the agents of the Air and Border Police to carry out the customs and immigration procedures. Limited to the ferry terminals in most cases, the presence of these police officers decreased de facto the number of ports of entry to our territory. This requirement, existing for nationals of most countries in the world, is being relaxed and will allow disembarkation at any port in the territory without the need to present themselves to the authorities in person.

For all countries outside the Schengen area, including the United Kingdom

From now on, the procedure to be applied for nationals of countries that are not part of the Schengen area is simplified. For the administrative part, you just have to fill in a form that can be downloaded from the Internet and fill in the necessary information for your arrival (name and registration of the boat, identity of the crew...). A financial section must be filled out, asking to certify that the necessary means to live on a daily basis (32.50 euros per day) are available to each crew member.

Once completed, this form should be sent by e-mail to the authorities of the port of entry. Of course, it must be accompanied by all the necessary documents, and if necessary, by a French version. The major advantage is that there is only one declaration to be made to enter the territory. Thus, if during the crossing the destination changes, there is no need to make the declaration again. The initial declaration will be valid as a legal immigration procedure throughout the country.

In test in Le Havre, but with national value

This procedure is currently being tested in the Normandy port of Le Havre, but can be used to disembark at any port in the country.

Boaters coming from the south of England in particular will see in this approach and the simplification of the procedure an additional opportunity to visit France.
