Prepare your cruise in Brittany
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is difficult to plan a trip abroad. Don't panic, France has many splendid shipping basins, be it in the South of France - in Corsica for example - or in Brittany.
A mystical region, it offers a rich and varied coastline, but above all hundreds of dream anchorages, sometimes unknown, for sailing along the coast. For rent a boat in Brittany Several rental bases are available, whether in South Brittany at Lorient, La Trinité or Le Crouesty, or in Finistère at Port La Forêt or Brest.
In North Brittany, the anchorages are somewhat far from the rental bases, mainly located in Saint-Malo, but you will nevertheless find some nice stopovers to make.
However, be careful to choose the right boat for your cruise: a motor boat, a groundable boat, a boat with a lifting keel... Your itinerary and the anchorages you choose will have to take into account your draught, as some anchorages discover a lot at low tide.
Remember to book your cruise in advance, the rental schedules may be busy. Choose to sail in June or from September/October, these periods will be quieter. Finally, to avoid long queues in the ports, choose rather nice anchorages, we have prepared some ideas for stopovers.
With an economically difficult year 2020, prices will remain quite high, so don't expect to get too much of a discount, especially since demand is there, with boaters only dreaming of getting away.

Dream anchorages along the Brittany coastline
The Côtes-d'Armor
From Saint-Malo - the main rental base in northern Brittany - several destinations are available to you. Some are more distant than others, but widely accessible during a cruise.
The Ebihens Archipelago located on the Emerald Coast between Saint-Cast Le Guildo and Saint-Brieuc. The south of the island offers a splendid and protected cove in which you can enjoy in complete peace and quiet. Nearby, the port of Saint-Cast offers a large draught and many state-of-the-art facilities.
White Port is a village attached to the municipality of Penvénan. Its well-protected bay shelters many islets. You will be able to discover there the tide mill of Buguèlès. On land, the numerous coastal paths will lead you to discover chapels, calvaries, etc...
Grande Island The village - in the heart of the English Channel - offers a wild landscape, dotted with granite rocks. All around, a string of islands offers you a pretty navigation circuit, while on land you can admire the moor castle or the Saint-Sauveur fountain and the old guard house.
The island of Brehat, southern offer the mooring of the House Well protected from the elements for a night under the stars.
Gwin Zegal In the bay of Saint-Brieuc, there is an anchorage of about forty piles planted in the sand on which to moor, a process dating back to the 5th century and used since the middle of the 19th century.
Morbihan
The beach south of Houat offers a beautiful anchorage in front of the large expanse of well-protected sand. It is one of the most popular anchorages in Southern Brittany.
The island of Groix is located 3 miles from the mainland and offers a wild and unspoiled beauty despite the many tourists who land there every year. The Pointe des Chats is marked by a lighthouse of the same name, which signals the rocks of the Chats, stretching for more than a kilometer. Before the Pointe des Chats, you can anchor in front of the Red Sands beach, whose ruby-coloured sand is dressed with huge rocks.
The Little Sea of Graves is a lagoon attached to the roadstead of Lorient. This maritime marsh empties completely at each tide, so you will have to be able to ground to anchor there and is characterized by its many birds and fauna.
Finistère
L'Anse de Pen Hir is a beautiful protected anchorage, located on the Crozon peninsula with a beautiful white sandy beach. Here you anchor on a sandy bottom, mainly in front of the beach, but you can also go mooring not far from the famous Tas de Pois.
Lédénez Vraz is a small island attached to the Molène archipelago by a heap of sand and pebbles, discoverable at low tide. Favour a groundable boat to navigate in this area or with very little draught.
L'Anse de Térénez In the country of Trégor is located in the eastern part of the bay of Morlaix is protected by the castle of the Bull, designed by Vauban. You can also admire the cairn of the peninsula of Barnénez, stone tombs dating from the Neolithic period.
The island of Batz is located near Roscoff, in North Finistère. Calm and wild, you will discover a fauna and flora full of richness, to enjoy a complete change of scenery.
Loire Atlantique
Dumet Island The village of Houat, under the peninsula of Rhuys, is located in the full east of Houat, much closer to the land. If the conditions allow it, the island offers several nice anchorages and above all less crowded than in Houat and Hoëdic, especially in the north where it is possible to run aground. Nearby is the port of Piriac, whose old town is well worth a visit.
