The 2020/2021 Vendée Globe is coming to an end, as the first competitors are expected in Les Sables-d'Olonne from 27th January, in less than a week's time. So, how can we follow the finishes of the Vendée Globe in this context if particulier??

Five arrivals on 27 January 2021

Less than 2?000 miles ahead of the bows of the competitors and a planned arrival in Les Sables-d'Olonne on 27th January 2021. This edition of the Vendée Globe will have been special in many ways, on the one hand marked by the global pandemic, and on the other, by weather conditions that will not have allowed the competitors in the race to beat Armel le Cléac'h's record of 74 days.

With the finish scheduled in 5 days time, the competitors will have taken 80 days to complete their solo circumnavigation of the world. And today, no one yet knows who can win the race as the fleet is so compact, even if there are three to stand out from the pack - Charlie Dalin (Apivia), Louis Burton (Bureau Vallée 2) and Boris Herrmann (SeaExplorer - Yacht Club de Monaco).

In fact, we've launched a contest.. to determine the ranking of the top 5 finishers, knowing that some of them benefit from a time bonus for the rescue of Kevin Escoffier (Boris Herrmann, Yannick Bestaven and Jean Le Cam).

In view of the scenario that we are following on our screens, several arrivals will follow one another on January 27th.

An extended finish line

To overcome the complicated conditions for the finish in Les Sables d'Olonne on Wednesday 27th January, the race direction has taken the decision to lengthen the finish line, in accordance with article 9.1 of the race instructions. Initially by 0.5 miles (300 m), it will finally be 1.9 miles (3.1 km) after being stretched southwards. This will allow boats to cross the line at full speed.

But how will we be able to watch the boats arrive during this period of pandemic mondiale?? In accordance with the authorities' requests, the games will be played behind closed doors as the village will be closed to the public.

Will the public still be able to welcome these sea heroes from the channel or from other locations at terre?? Nothing is less certain..

So to make sure you don't miss any of the arrivals, you can follow continuous news channels or log on to the vendée Globe website which will broadcast the arrival on YouTube, Dailymotion and social networks.
