January 27, 2021 is a crazy day for the Vendée Globe! Although the quays will remain deserted, due to the health crisis, the arrivals are expected to be numerous, with no less than 5 competitors expected on this day alone. A totally unprecedented situation for a race lasting almost 3 months.
But the order of finish doesn't necessarily determine the ranking. Indeed, 3 racers are entitled to a time bonus, a compensation given by the race jury for having taken time to save Kévin Escoffier, whose PRB sank. To help you with your calculations, here are the times to which the 3 racers are entitled: 16h15 bonus for Jean Le Cam, 10h15 for Yannick Bestaven and 6h for Boris Herrmann.
Any thoughts on the top 5? We'd love to hear from you. Here's the key, the Vendée Globe book with portraits of all the competitors who took part in the previous 8 editions. While we wait to enter their portraits in the 2020/21 edition... A draw will be made in the event of multiple correct answers.
Remember, we're asking for the final ranking after repairs. We look forward to your answers in the comments.
