Félix de Navacelle has just finished the Mini Transat 2019 by taking fourth place in the series on a Pogo 3. This naval architect, whose smile is hard to leave his face, tells the story of his adventure.
Although the images on board are numerous and make you want to go out to sea, this sailor has chosen to go back over his race with a clear head, opposing the images at sea with others telling the story and the experience of living in a small paradise in the Alps.
As he says: I wanted to describe a little more fully what we feel at sea, in solo competition. It's not easy to describe these emotions which are so pure and which are not always pink! But the man is resourceful and doesn't hesitate to show several facets of this extraordinary race: Indeed, we often see some very nice surfing videos "full ball" downwind for 15 days transatlantic, images which are certainly very enticing! But all that wouldn't be so nice and strong if there wasn't a lot of harshness and challenges to be taken up, which we show less often. In the end, perhaps showing a little of the "other side" of solo ocean racing will inspire more than just make you want to?
The 25 minutes of this film savour without length, as the skipper shares and explains his choices and values. Undeniably, the Mini remains a race that makes its mark on its participants and that continues to make ocean lovers dream.
