On Thursday 7 May, the Prime Minister presented his deconfinement plan, which will begin on Monday 11 May. And the good news is that boaters will be able to return to the pontoons and the sea as early as next week. Under certain conditions

For several weeks, the actors of the Confederation of Nautism and Yachting - representatives of the nautical industries, marinas, water sports and yachtsmen - have been working for the return to the sea of pleasure boaters.

This mission had been entrusted to the French Federation of Marinas, which was to draw up a charter of best practices to ensure that this return takes place in the best possible conditions. Since this Thursday 7th May 2020 and the deconfinement plan unveiled by Édouard Philippe, it is now a fact that yachtsmen will be able to sail again... In compliance with the deconfinement rules of course.

Travel permitted within a maximum limit of 100 km

If one can move freely again, a maximum distance of 100 km (as the crow flies) from one's home must be respected, unless there are compelling reasons to do so. Boaters who do not belong to this category will be able to return to their boats only if they live less than 100 km from their home port. Parisian friends, you will therefore have to wait a little longer.

In compliance with the guide to good practice

A Boater Safety Best Practices Guide will be provided to boaters by the captain's offices. Rules will have to be respected so that this return to the sea takes place in compliance with health regulations.

Harbour master's offices and marinas will be equipped with protective equipment (transparent screens, masks, free access disinfectants, floor markings, regular disinfection of common areas and sanitary facilities, etc.) and port agents will be trained. Boaters will also have to respect certain good practices, such as the following:

  • Disinfection operations
  • Washing hands before and after handling shared items
  • Social distancing
  • No regrouping and therefore no more pontoon drinks
  • Making an appointment by phone

A smooth recovery

The Federations strongly encourage boaters to be reasonably deconfined. Indeed, the boats have also remained in confinement and will have to be well prepared for a safe recovery. As well as boaters, who may have been deprived of physical activity and who should not overestimate their capabilities.

What about beaches and centers nautiques??

"?Nos beaches and coastal paths will be brought back to life. Nautical and sailing bases will find their space of freedom and leisure. I salute the Government's response to our requests and the citizen mobilization that made it possible. This trust placed in the mayors and professionals of our nautical bases and marinas obliges us. Together with the Prefects, we will be able to get down to work immediately on the basis of the protocols and charters of commitments sent to ministères?" explains Michaël QUERNEZ, President of the APPB, Association of Marinas of Brittany.

However, in the deconfinement plan announced by the Prime Minister, in the period from 11 May to 1 May 2009, the Government of Canada has announced a plan to deconflict the country's financial institutions er in June, it is the prefects - on request of the mayors - who will be able to open the beaches and nautical centres.

We will therefore keep you informed of developments in the situation until the 2 e phase of the deconfinement plan on June 2.
