Yoann Richomme will be the skipper of the Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team 2021 for The Ocean Race campaign. He'll be at the helm of VO65 "Racing for the Planet / Navigating for the Planet." A turning point for this accustomed to great successes - a Route du Rhum in Class40 in 2018 and a second victory in the Solitaire du Figaro in 2019.
It is thanks to the recommendations of the reigning winners of the Volvo Ocean Race - Charles Caudrelier and Bruno Dubois - that Yoann Richomme has been selected to represent this sustainable campaign.
"I knew right away that Yoann was at the top of my list for the next race. His recent victories speak for themselves. From her base in Lorient, she sails more than 200 days a year. He has that natural feeling for making a boat go fast and also the skills to take advantage of the technical data, as well as managing his team. He is without a doubt the most interesting sailor on the market today." said Bruno Dubois.
Although the Portuguese boat is already in the water, with 18 months to go before the start, it will now be necessary to focus on the composition of the crew.

We have one of the best assets a team can have - time. With the boat already in the water, 2020 will be our year to test different sailors and different configurations, in order to select the best possible team. We will also participate in some preparatory races this year and start our preparation as soon as possible, to make sure we get to the starting line with a team capable of winning the race" said Yoann Richomme.
