Le Loustic, an elegant and versatile rigid dinghy by La Gazelle des Sables

The Loustic

The La Gazelle des Sables shipyard specializes in the construction of small boats weighing less than 200 kilos, the objective of which is to maximize the pleasures on the water. For the 2020 season, the shipbuilder from the Loire launches the Loustic, an elegant 25 kg rigid dinghy.

A light and elegant annex

"Unlike our other models, which allow you to sail 2 to 6 miles from the coast, the Loustic is certified as an annex. So he doesn't have the autonomy of these older brothers and sisters." explains Marie Besnié, sales manager of the Atelier de la Gazelle des Sables.

But, for several years, the manufacturer has been listening to the demands of its customers, who are looking for an elegant and pretty annex to look at for a reasonable budget.

"As specialists in small transportable boats, we have created a durable and super-lightweight tender using vacuum injection technology."

This is how the Loustic was born, to satisfy those yachtsmen who could not find the right shoe for them.

With a weight of only 25 kg, a length of 2.33 m and a width of 1.2 m, the Loustic can be used on boats from 32 feet. Stored on davits or trailing - not ideal for these boats - the Loustic is also easily stored flat on inverted decks, especially on travel sailboats.

"Owners of long-distance sailing boats are looking for more original things. Not to mention that these long journeys with sometimes difficult conditions put the tyres at risk. The Loustic with its rigid structure is an annex to the playful operation. It offers both stability by its hull shape for the utility side of the tender while allowing fun with a small piece of sail" marie Besnié explains.

Another advantage is that thanks to the interior volume lined with polyurethane foam, the Loustic cannot flow. Finally, thanks to its reduced weight, the Loustic is very easy to ship and can be sent to neighbouring European countries.

A versatile annex to maximize enjoyment

The Loustic is also a "great toy to serve a lot of objectifs?!". Indeed, if the canoe is delivered with paddles, 4 other propulsion modes allow it to be transformed into an entertainment platform: sculling, oars, electric motor and sail. The keel of the Loustic is equipped with a soft stainless steel band and a wheel placed in the heel, ideal for beauty without fear and to approach the rocks.

"These kits can be combined to vary the pleasures and everyone has the freedom to choose what they like. It also makes it possible to keep the annex alive over time, because they can be adopted at any time. This evolutionary aspect of the boat is reflected in our entire range."

It is possible to carry up to 3 people on board and you can sail at sea or on a river.

"His versatility is very interesting. It can be used by a small sailor with an electric motor in an educational approach or in the idea of a transmission of knowledge by a grandfather and his grandson, to sculling and rowing", marie Besnié argues. "Finally, through the Loustic, we find the philosophy of the Gazelle des Sables, namely a boat to have fun in good weather and spend time on the water with those we love, she adds.

A customizable annex

The Loustic is available in two configurations, "a slightly tailor-made approach that can be found on our 60 boats produced per year. Not one of them is ressemble?! Colour, sail, style, everything is personnalisable?!"

With the Basic configuration, the Loustic is ready to use with a wooden floor, black plastic cleats, colours and fittings in line with a boat for the sea.

In the Classic configuration, the finishes are made of wood, the stainless steel cleats and the lifting sockets for the davits are included.

Price: From 1830 euros including VAT with paddle.
