B.Yond 37M, the Italian-style expedition superyacht

Benetti B. Yond 37M

A pioneer in the use of fibreglass for the construction of Navetta over 30 m in the 1990s, Benetti launched a new generation of expedition yachts built in steel in 2019.

Rationalize spaces

B.Yond is the name of the new generation of expedition yachts from the Italian manufacturer Benetti. This range is characterised by a rationalisation of volumes and layout guaranteeing better use of space and guest privacy on each of the four decks. In an effort to protect the environment, Benetti will equip its boats with the new E-Mode propulsion system, developed by Siemens for the shipbuilder.

The main and lower decks blend perfectly into the hull structure, allowing the integration of a 4th deck with glazed windows offering a panoramic view of the sea.

One bridge, one use

The first model of this new generation is the B.Yond 37M with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. 37 m long and 8.6 m wide, the superyacht is expected to offer an interior volume equivalent to that of a 50 m megayacht and 500 tonnes.

The main deck is dedicated to owner and guest cabins, the saloon being installed on the upper deck. The lower deck, on the other hand, is reserved exclusively for the crew and the captain. To ensure privacy and comfort, the various bridges are connected by two separate stairs. One for the owner and his guests and the other for the crew.

A lower deck reserved for the crew

To rationalize the space on board, each deck is reserved for a dedicated function. The lower deck is reserved for the technical holds and the 4 cabins for the crew, all with private bathrooms. In the middle of the ship, there is a large suite for the captain, a huge kitchen, a laundry room and a cold room.

This bridge is accessible from the garage and via the service stairs (with dumbwaiter) connecting all the bridges. This allows the crew to easily move and work without ever meeting the owner and his guests, using separate passages.

The main deck, the sleeping area for the owner and guests

The main deck is reserved for the sleeping area of the owner and his guests. The owner's suite is the full width of the boat and is located at the front of the deck. On the same deck are also 4 guest cabins designed according to the standards of a luxury hotel: vertical walls, large spaces, silence and sea view.

Finally, both the two suites at the stern and the owner's can be equipped with a private terrace.

From the central hall, a staircase connects the living room on the upper deck or a space on the lower deck, which can be converted into either a sports hall or a 6th cabin.

Also on the main deck, a very spacious garage is located at the stern, which can accommodate water toys: 2 jet skis and 2 tenders (6.5 and 4.2 metres, respectively used by the owner and the crew). The two rear bulwarks tilt outwards to facilitate their launch.

At the back of the deck, a central staircase leads directly to the beach club with access to the sauna and garage.

A diesel-electric propulsion system

For propulsion, Benetti called on Siemens Marine, which specially developed the E-Mode for him. It is an easy-to-use hybrid propulsion system that reduces fuel consumption throughout the boat's life cycle. This SISHIP EcoProp diesel-electric propulsion system was developed in Italy and offers four operating modes:

  • Enhanced Comfort for night sailing and emission-free coastal cruises
  • Eco Cruise/hotel mode, the "zero emission" mode for cruising or anchoring
  • Extended Range, which reduces fuel consumption over very long distances
  • Eco Transfer, which uses only one engine, driving the different drive shafts to reduce engine hours and improve performance.

An external vestibule

To be able to move easily from one deck to another outside, a small central deck at the stern of the boat acts as a vestibule. From a large staircase, one can access the rear terrace of the upper deck. It is easy to move around the deck without ever losing sight of the horizon, all the way to the bow.

An upper deck for the living area together

At the rear, a large outdoor dining room, protected by a railing, is equipped with sofas and comfortable armchairs. Inside, protected behind large dark windows, there is the main lounge and a second dining room, connected by sliding doors to the outside bow lounge, where there is a huge sunbathing area.

Wheel Deck and Sun Deck, driving and relaxation

The Wheel Deck (3rd deck) is equipped with a large lounge protected from gusts by sliding glass side walls. At the back, a second jacuzzi is installed in the center of the terrace. On the bow of the deck are the wheelhouse and a radio room, which can be used by the master at night to rest.

Finally, the Sun Deck consists of a large bar, a lounge area and a large tanning area, all protected by a large hard-top.

A real expedition yacht

Like a real expedition yacht, the B.Yond 37M is designed for long-distance cruising and has a wave-proof hull. Storage spaces and water tanks have been increased to allow autonomous navigation for as long as possible. With a fuel tank of 70?000 L and water tanks of 6000 L, the manufacturer announces a range at cruising speed greater than 5?000 miles.
