After taking it to sea with us, we can say that the small pair of Steiner BluHorizon 10x26 binoculars perfectly fulfils its role. Very compact, folding back on itself with only 11.4 cm high and 310 g, it can quite easily stay in the pocket of its wax. Strong and additionally protected by a Neoprene case delivered with the pair of binoculars, it will be well protected.
It is on the details that this pair of binoculars cannot compete with the brand's specially marine models (Commander or Navigator Pro). If the latter are filled with a gas that prevents moisture from penetrating, the BluHorizon is "only" IPX4 waterproof. But isn't that enough?
On the technology side, the BluHorizon is equipped with "Autobright" lenses. This technology automatically adjusts the amount of transmitted light to provide perfectly clear and sharp images. If it sounds like a gadget, it's quite effective. We tested the binoculars at sea under the sun at the zenith in the Mediterranean. It is true that the image remains comfortable and accurate.
The sharpness is adjusted by a central knob with the possibility of correcting the diopter of the left eye. The quality and precision of the knob breathe the quality material.
If these binoculars can only offer the same vision, especially at night, as a very good pair of marine binoculars, they will be perfect as backup binoculars on board a boat or in any other occasion.
