Atlantic, the sports tender inspires Bugatti luxury cars

The Atlantic Tender

French designer Étienne Salomé has just unveiled the 3D images of his future 12 m Atlantic tender. This first model of the Salomé Yachts brand draws its inspiration from the world of luxury automobiles and more particularly from the Bugatti T57SC Altantic.

French designer Étienne Salomé specializes in car design. While he began his career by drawing for Kia, Mazda or Renault, his last years were spent making sports cars for Bugatti. Among his latest projects, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo or the Bugatti Chiron.

But it is on a completely different field that Salome is making headlines at the moment. He has just started production of the first model of his boat brand, Salomé Yachts. This first project is a 12 m sports tender called Atlantic in homage to "the most beautiful classic sports car of all time, the Bugatti T57SC Atlantic" said the designer.

This is not the first time that French has made inroads into the world of boating, since it had already signed the Bugatti Niniette 66 currently under construction at Palmer and Johnson.

A design inspired by Formulas 1

The Atlantic has a design that clearly recalls that of sports cars. The designer also assures that its hull has been specially developed and inspired by the aerodynamics of Formula 1.

The first images suggest that it will have a catamaran hull shape, providing stability while reducing drag. A design choice already chosen by the Polish shipyard Sunreef Yachts, with its luxurious tender catamaran, the 40 Open Sunreef Power .

Luxury and comfort

On board, the designer has chosen luxury and ease of use: Garmin's aviation-inspired glass dashboard, "self-docking" technology (to dock without touching the steering wheel), 14 speakers and two subwoofers, a host of water toys, including two custom Seabobs..

A total of nine people will be able to board the Altantic, which will be powered by two Volvo Penta D6-440 HP engines and will reach a maximum speed of 60 knots.

The construction of the first 12 units has already begun in Italy for a first delivery at the Monaco Yacht Show 2020. Each model will be handcrafted before being sold for about 1?748?400 dollars.
