Climbing to the top of the mast is often still a dreaded intervention on a sailboat. And yet, sometimes we have to go up there and look at what's going on. The easiest solution is to sit in a chair and wait for a volunteer crew member to tire of winching to pull you up. But what if the fairly muscular partner is missing?
There are commercially available solutions that can help you. But there is also the D system. Christian, one of our readers, sent us his realization: a rope ladder that holds along the mast with slides.
This ladder is made with rungs made of aluminium rungs. The distance between each rung is 35 cm. They are locked on each side with a knot on the ropes that form the uprights of the ladder. Another knot on the central rope positions the bar well when hoisting. Thus equipped, it is enough to hoist the ladder instead of the mainsail. And for the storage we roll everything!
A simple and economical solution that Christian has tested. Congratulations to this inventor.
