Sherakhan, the transformation of a training ship into a luxurious vintage superyacht

Superyacht Sherakan

Sherakhan is an elegant 70 m superyacht expedition of vintage inspiration. On board, everything has been designed to offer a luxury holiday in a chic and timeless setting. However, it was as a training ship for the Dutch company that the former Prinses Margriet was built in 1966.

From the training ship to the superyacht

Prinses Margriet is a training ship built in 1965 for the Dutch company. It is acquired by Jan Verkerk, a hotel and entertainment manager, passionate and owner of several boats and yachts in his native Netherlands. The latter decided to transform it into an elegant superyacht, keeping the beautiful lines and classic style of the 1960s ship.

The transformation was carried out from 2002 to 2005 with a complete interior modernization and a complete technical overhaul. And a new refit was completed in 2017 to make it a real leisure and entertainment platform.

Sherakan is a superyacht of character, with an old style and an intimate and comfortable atmosphere. A design that contrasts with the modern superyachts launched today.

A splendid dining room

It can accommodate 26 guests, who will be carefully cared for by its 20 crew members. The interior style is classic and chic with touches of modernity in the image of its incredible double height dining room with a large gallery overlooking the space and a skylight provided by the glass backdrop of the jacuzzi. 26 guests can dine around a spectacular dining table, in this space that combines glass, marble, stainless steel, wood and cream colors.

The sleeping area has 13 double cabins and a large owner's suite. For the greatest well-being of guests, well-being is at the heart of the services offered on board. On board is a complete wellness centre with a beauty salon, massage tables, fitness room and sauna.

Exteriors dedicated to entertainment

Outside, the living spaces are important, from the imposing wicker armchairs and benches on the main deck, to the many sun loungers on the large foredeck, to the large sundeck with its jacuzzi for 18 people, its bar, its barbecue, its dining table and many sun loungers.

Everything for fun

To the delight of guests, Sherakhan has a garage full of toys and personal watercraft to satisfy those who are passionate about sensations. In addition to two 7.3-metre tenders, there are three jet skis, wakeboards, surfboards, a large number of inflatable toys and a huge 8-metre inflatable slide for an incredible experience.

A cruise from hot to cold

Generally present in the Mediterranean for the summer period and in the Caribbean in winter, Sherakhan is able to sail in much more distant regions, such as Greenland or Antarctica, and has several round the world voyages.
